Glenwood High School SANBS Awards

The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) hosted their annual awards dinner on Friday 5 April. The purpose of the event is to recognise schools, businesses and people in the community that has played a role in making SANBS successful in their national mandate.

An interesting statistic presented at the dinner is that 75% of blood donated comes from schools.

In the province of KZN, Glenwood High School was ranked first for 2018 with 493 units donated.

This was the most number of units in the entire province across all schools and businesses that host SANBS.

In South Africa, Glenwood High School was ranked fourth.

This is an amazing achievement on behalf of the school as it reflects the true spirit of being a Glenwood learner, and that is serving humanity through giving back.

Glenwood High School would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Dave Munro (Glenwood Staff) for his numerous years of service at Glenwood, his passion and efforts ensuring our school’s success over the many years in partnership with SANBS. The task now lies with staff members and old boys, Mr Warren Roberts and Mr Divesh Sookdeo to continue the amazing work done by Mr Munro.

We encourage our viewers to click on the following link below to watch a clip by SANBS on apheresis, a specialist donation type, that is highly critical to individuals all over the world.
