The HEART of the LION is all about community service and social responsibility and right now during this #Covid-19 pandemic it is even more obvious that we need to support people who are struggling.
There are a lot of organizations doing food parcels that we can contribute to, but I also think that sometimes people need an electricity voucher to cook the food or maybe it’s a data bundle for their children to learn online. A money transfer means people can choose what to buy for their families who might also need things like soap, toothpaste, hand sanitizer and masks.
We need to think outside the box when we help others and we should not presume that we know what another person needs. Every little bit helps!
Our mental health matters too. As tough as we think we are, this lockdown is doing everyone’s head in so let us reach out to each other.
Matrics have you been in touch with your Grade 8’s? Take time to call grandparents, family and friends or message people who are alone in this lockdown.
Our parents are also stressed out and we can all help at home by washing the dishes, cooking a meal, cleaning our rooms, or mowing the lawn.
To the HEART of the LION boys, there are hours available at Community Hours SA – check out all the options under virtual volunteering. We can still make a difference during #lockdown. You can also contact Mrs le Roux (Lerouxj@parktownboys.com) to help with a donation of data or electronic equipment for a Parktown brother.
A big thank you to all our teachers for teaching us on all the different platforms and for the Zoom meetings to make sure that we understand the work (and there is a lot of it!)
#Arise boys, be #ProudlyParktonian and #KeepRoaring – wear your masks, wash your hands, remember social distancing, stay fit and keep up with your schoolwork.
