Regional Golf Finals. Glenwood House Golf Team Shines at Regionals.
The Glenwood House 1st Golf Team delivered a superb performance at the Regional Finals hosted at the prestigious Fancourt Links Experience Golf Course, clinching victory by an impressive 11 shots to secure qualification for the in Umhlali, KZN.
After trailing Bramble and Outeniqua during the season, the team rose to the occasion when it mattered most. Highlights included:
- Dewan de Bruin storming home with a spectacular eagle on the final hole
- Peter Venter topping the leaderboard with a steady even-par round in challenging wet and windy conditions
The 2nd Team also enjoyed success, finishing 2nd in the 2nd Division, with Wian Stassen recording the lowest score in the division at two-over-par.
Individual brilliance has further elevated Glenwood House’s reputation:
- Dewan de Bruin recently finished 2nd in the U/19 SA Boys Strokeplay in East London and also placed 2nd at the All Africa Team Championships in Kenya, where he captained the South African team to a commanding 35-shot victory.
- Devon Smith, from the 2nd Team, achieved a remarkable hole-in-one at George Golf Club’s 6th hole — a 140m downwind shot with a pitching wedge that bounced once and dropped straight into the cup.
