Scuba Diving. Michaelhouse Scuba Diving Society – Sodwana Bay Adventure.
Over the half‑term break, the Michaelhouse Scuba Diving Society, joined by supportive parents, siblings, and staff, embarked on their much‑anticipated annual trip to Sodwana Bay.
This world‑renowned diving destination offered the boys an unforgettable opportunity to explore vibrant coral reefs. They also encountered an astonishing variety of marine life, all under perfect weather and calm sea conditions.
Beyond the thrill of discovery, each dive carried a deeper lesson: the importance of protecting our oceans. Healthy reefs and thriving marine ecosystems are treasures that future generations deserve to inherit, and every underwater experience reinforces the responsibility we share in safeguarding them.
Celebrating Achievements
Congratulations to the following boys who successfully completed their courses:
- Bubblemaker: Max Franz
- Open Water: Ben Franz, Xavi Smith, Barnaby Webb, Noah Hansen, Owen Pelser, Nick Lopi, Cullen Duffield, and Darryl Duffield (Cullen’s dad)
- Advanced Course: Campbell Turner, Rohan Erasmus, and Griffon Erasmus
Each certification represents not only technical skill but also courage, discipline, and a growing respect for the marine environment
Trips like these remind us that education extends beyond the classroom. By diving into the ocean’s depths, the boys learn resilience, teamwork, and environmental stewardship — lessons that will stay with them for life.

“Well done to all participants, and thank you to the families and staff who made this adventure possible.”
