Tennis Settlers Cup – St Andrew’s College’s superior results

Tennis Settlers Cup. Blustery conditions greeted players as the much-anticipated Settlers Cup unfolded on Sunday. Hosted by Graeme College, with additional matches staged at St Andrew’s Prep, the event nevertheless produced some of the finest tennis seen in recent years despite the challenging wind.

Coming straight off the December holidays, one might have expected a sluggish start. Instead, the courts buzzed with energy from the outset. The tournament opened with St Andrew’s College against Kingswood College, and the home side wasted no time in asserting its dominance. St Andrew’s displayed composure and experience that proved too strong for their younger Kingswood counterparts.

As the day progressed, the competition intensified. Graeme College arrived determined, pushing St Andrew’s to fight for every point. The final scoreline was somewhat deceptive, as many of the matches were fiercely contested. Ultimately, St Andrew’s edged out Graeme by seven matches to five.

The day concluded with St Andrew’s facing Union High School from Graaff-Reinet. In a commanding performance, the College secured a comprehensive 12–0 victory, leaving no doubt about their supremacy.
