Makhanda Schools’ Cricket Festival. The opening day of the Makhanda Schools’ Cricket Festival saw Kingswood College host Steyn City from Johannesburg in a declaration match.
A special congratulations to Chad Roodt, who celebrated his maiden century for the Kingswood 1st XI with a superb 127 runs, and to Captain David Loudon, who added a valuable half-century. Another milestone was reached by Sinawo Bukula, who proudly earned his 50th 1st Team cap today.
Steyn City began strongly, striking early with four quick wickets. However, the partnership between Chad and David steadied the innings and lifted Kingswood to a competitive total of 275. The visitors fought hard in reply, with Max Burroughs producing a fine century of 119 runs. Despite their efforts, Kingswood held firm, securing victory by 25 runs in a thrilling finish.
🌟 Notable performances included Steyn City’s Kurt Losch, who impressed with bowling figures of 6 wickets for 63 runs.
Both teams displayed outstanding cricket under the warm Makhanda conditions, setting the perfect tone for the festival ahead. Congratulations to all players on a memorable day of cricket.
