150 Years of Faithfulness – St Charles College Chapel Service

150 Years of Faithfulness. Chapel Service.

This morning, the St Charles College community came together in the Chapel to commemorate an extraordinary milestone—150 years of God’s steadfast faithfulness.

The service also featured a stirring message on blessing and inheritance from Mr Danny Genheimer. This was followed by a heartfelt testimony by Old Boy and Saints parent, Mr Abrie Bouwer. Uplifting worship was led by our Chamber Choir, joined by Old Boys Matthew Urquhart and Keketso Mokotjo.

Mr Allen van Blerk

Principal Mr Allen van Blerk extended a warm welcome to an overflowing Chapel filled with friends, staff, boys, Old Boys, former colleagues, the Board of Governors, and representatives from schools and churches throughout the province. In his address, he affirmed that although the College has grown over the years, its mission also remains constant. That is to offer a Christ-centred education rooted in faith, character, and service.

It was a privilege to welcome Saints Old Boy Brother Vincent to the service, as a special tribute was paid to the Marist Brothers. Their faithful guidance shaped the College from 1913 to 1978. Honouring them alongside the spiritual leaders and devoted prayer partners reminded us of the powerful legacy of spiritual support that continues today.

Mr van Blerk also expressed heartfelt thanks to the pastoral team and the faithful group who pray weekly for our College—for our staff, boys, and families, and for God’s hand over us all. Their quiet faithfulness is a blessing beyond measure.

Chaplain, Mr Ducasse

Special appreciation was extended to the Chaplain, Mr Ducasse, as well as his dedicated team for the many months of preparation and the ongoing spiritual care they provide to our community.

“As we reflect on the past with gratitude, we step forward in faith. WE remember the words of Psalm 127:1, “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labour in vain.” May we continue to walk boldly into the future, anchored in Christ’s truth, love, and grace.
