Pietermaritzburg Girls’ High School recently held its annual Academic Awards ceremony honouring the efforts of its pupils throughout the 2017 academic year.

This year the school welcomed back old girl Nozipho Mbanjwa as guest speaker for the awards. Mbanjwa is recognised internationally as a leading Global Moderator facilitating conversations for organisations such as the World Bank, the United Nations and other corporates around the world. She is also the CEO of The Talent Firm. Mbanjwa gave an inspiring talk encouraging the learners to make the most of their time at school.

Rachael Job and Lindelwa Bhengu were the recipients of The Catherine Morewood Memorial Award which is given to two outstanding learners who are in the top 20 academically in their Grade 11 year and is voted for the their fellow learners. Two laptops are donated annually in memory of GHS old girl, Morewood.

Jocelyn Finnie received the prestigious Valerie Fowler Award for Excellence. This is awarded to a learner that is an all-rounder both academically excellent as well as on the sporting field. Jocelyn also received a laptop.
