National galas. Two Epworth swimmers, Pietermaritzburg, recently participated in national galas and achieved some excellent results
Gemma Goncalves (Grade 11) received a bronze medal in the 400m Freestyle (16-19 age group) at the SA Schools’ Championships, and finished in the top 10 in Freestyle (16-19 age group) at the South African National Junior Championships.
Jessica Jansen van Vuuren (Grade 7) made two finals (50m Freestyle and 50m Breaststroke) at the South African National Junior Championships, which places her in the top 10 in her age group in South Africa. She also achieved four personal best times in the 200m and 400m Freestyle and in the 200m and 50m Breaststroke.
