Friday night lights Hockey. Kearsney played another high tempo Friday night lights Hockey game clash, this weekend against Northwood.
The visitors were severely hampered by the flu. Key players either rested or played on minimal game time. and with the quality of schoolboy hockey in KZN, it was going to be an extremely tough encounter!
The game was evenly poised in the first quarter with neither side giving up much, and a few opportunities weren’t converted until the second quarter. A small error in open play led to a short corner, which Northwood converted to go 1-0 up.
Kearsney stayed the game and put pressure on the hosts with two short corners which weren’t converted. A turnover deep inside Northwood’s half led to a shot from Aaron Blackburn, who scored on the forehand to make it 1-1.
The rest of the game was a battle of defence, as both teams set up chances but just couldn’t convert. It was a thrilling game to watch, with exhilarating hockey from both sides.
