Honours Blazers for Music. A BIG “congratulations” to three students from St John’s D.S.G. Pitermaritzburg, Mihlali H, Victoria B and Daniela C, who were recently awarded Honours Blazers for Music.
Victoria B
Victoria is a dedicated and multi-talented musician. Her quiet strength and exceptional skill continue to elevate the standard of music at St John’s D.S.G. She is a notable member of both the Senior School Band and Marimba Band. she contributes meaningfully to ensemble performance while also shining as a soloist in piano and violin. Victoria is a consistent high achiever. She has received Best of Eisteddfod at the SASMT Eisteddfod for three consecutive years. She also regularly attains distinctions in her practical examinations. Her calm and steadfast nature has contributed to her exceptional growth. It made her an all-rounded and respected presence in the music department.
Daniela C
Daniela’s commitment and passion for classical voice is matched by her dedication to musical excellence. She is a member of the Marimba Band and Senior Choir. Furthermore she is a soloist at various school and external events. Daniela has also proven to be a versatile and consistent performer. Her involvement in the prestigious KZN Midlands Youth Choir is a testament to her exceptional vocal ability and commitment to growth. She is known for her lyrical, expressive singing, refined vibrato, and natural connection with her audience. Confident across languages and styles, she brings emotional clarity and musical depth to every performance, backed by a strong work ethic and solid theoretical understanding.
Mihlali H
Mihlali is a vibrant and expressive performer; she brings heart and humour to every musical space she enters. As a member of the Senior Choir and Marimba Band and a soloist in both classical and musical theatre styles, she has consistently impressed with her versatility, charm, and stage presence. Over the years, she has shown exceptional growth, not just in her vocal technique but in her confidence and belief in her musical understanding. Her theoretical grounding has strengthened, and her practical achievements speak for themselves: she is a regular recipient of gold awards at Eisteddfods and has earned several “Best of Eisteddfod” accolades at the SASMT Eisteddfod.
