Description of teenagers unfair. Teenagers can be described as selfish and insular. They are showing disregard for anything which does not directly affect them. However, experience tells me that this observation is unfair, that given the opportunity and information, most teenagers can show a gentle and compassionate touch. They can also show empathy and care for those around them who are less fortunate than themselves.
Down Syndrome Awareness Day was observed on 21 March 2025. The date is relevant as it is a variation of the 21st chromosome, which results in Down Syndrome. To raise awareness at St Charles College, this topic was covered in the Head of Schools’ assemblies last week. Further, to join in the spirit of creating awareness for people with Down Syndrome, all boys and staff in the high school were invited to wear their craziest, brightest and happiest socks on Wednesday, 26 March. In this way, we are hopeful that our boys will not only create awareness but that their levels of compassion and consideration for others will grow. – Mr Darren Holcomb – Head of the Upper School.
