Schools Cricket. On Saturday, 8 February, Kearsney College won what they thought was an important toss. This Schools Cricket game took place after a few days of rain wih the pitch also under covers. Kearsney opted to put visitors Glenwood in to bat.
Once again, Kearsney’s bowlers performed exceptionally well. Michael Groom and Litha Gonya both struck early and Glenwood were always under pressure. Kreean Juggo stood out with the bat, scoring 31 runs. Rivan Moodley continued his fine bowling form with figures of 4 for 15 in his 6 overs. Nicholas Comrie also chipped in with 2 wickets. Glenwood were dismissed for 83 in 25 overs.Â
However, Glenwood knew batting conditions were difficult and they exerted immense pressure on the young Kearsney batting lineup. Kyle Bryan opened the bowling with his off spin and ended up taking six wickets for 19 in his allotted overs. Akhil Maharaj backed him up, taking 3 for 14 in 5.2 overs. Cole Young was only the second player to reach double figures in the match, making 22 from 23 balls. Once he departed it was a procession for the hosts, and they were bowled out for 47.
This is the second time Glenwood’s spin attack has decimated a batting innings after they bowled Hilton out for 43 two weeks ago. Â
