St Charles College, Pietermaritzburg, travelled to Hilton on the weekend to face off against Hilton College. With both teams having successfully navigated the early regular season games to remain unbeaten, Saturday was set to be a tough encounter. Unfortunately for Hilton, St Charles College maintained their recent good form and applied excellent defensive pressure to start the game. This allowed St Charles College to convert easy baskets and to get the score board ticking over.
Saints applied a variety of full court pressure defences throughout the game which kept the Hilton College team guessing. With a good inside and outside presence from SCC, Hilton found it difficult to contain the Saints team as they opened up a large first half lead. Despite the deficit, Hilton College continued to play spirited basketball and were able to score more easily in the second half. However, the Saints team proved to be the better team on the day and achieved a comfortable 89 -35 victory.
