Eleven Union athletes participated in the recent zonal athletics meeting for high schools at the Collie Koeberg Sports Complex in Graaff-Reinet. The event – held on Wednesday, 5 February – saw the learners take to the track and field in swelteringly hot weather conditions.
Union’s athletes, nevertheless, put forth a stellar effort, with Mack Rubidge and Erin Mitchell being selected to represent the region at the Sarah Baartman District Championships at the Westbourne Oval in Port Elizabeth on Friday, 14 February. Mack will be competing in the Boys u/19 High Jump and Shot Put events and Erin in the Girls u/17 High Jump.
