SA High School Nationals. Meet Michaela Spocter, a Grade 10 learner from Curro Meridian Pinehurst in Durbanville, Cape Town. Michaela has once again proven that the sky is literally the limit. She clinched gold in the Under 17 high jump category at the SA High School Nationals Track and Field Championship, reaching a height of 1.75 meters.
Having shattered the existing record with a breathtaking leap of 1.73 meters at the Western Cape High School Championship, this is not just a personal victory for Michaela. It sets her reputation as a force to be reckoned with in the world of athletics.
Ian Permall, Sports Coordinator at Curro Meridian Pinehurst, expressed his pride in Michaela’s achievement. Michaela’s leap to success has been marked by numerous accolades and milestones over the last few years. Since Michaela first stepped onto the competitive track in 2019, she has consistently demonstrated her prowess. She secured gold medals at various competitions, including the Northern Zone meeting and the Western Province Track and Field meetings.
Her resilience and dedication have also propelled her to the forefront of South Africa’s athletic scene, a feeling which she describes as astronomical.
