Netbal Kapteine. In ons gewilde reeks oor sport kapteins, gesels Schools That Rock vandag met Lida Pienaar.
Myns insiens, is fiskheid kardinaal. Tans is ek gaande oor my huidige posisie!
Motivering
Ek hou my span gemotiveerd deur op my span se sterkpunte te bly fokus en mekaar aan te moedig. Dit help baie. My sterk punte as netbal kaptein is my lojaliteit teenoor my span sowel as uithouvermoë.
My gunsteling wedstryd tot dusver in my netbal-loopbaan, was ons eerste ligawedstryd.
Ek hanteer my verantwoordelikhede by netbal saam met my sosiale en akademiese verantwoordelikhede deur tydsbestuur. Dit speel `n belangrike rol. Ons afrigter, juffrou Lindie Maree, sê altyd ; “As jy iets doen, doen dit voluit.”
Soos vroeër genoem is my netbalheld, Karla Pretorius.
Netball Captains
In our popular series about sports captains, Schools That Rock talks to Lida Pienaar today. Lida is the captain of Bultfontein High School’s 1st Netball team. Today Lida scores the first goal in our series this year on Netball Captains from high schools in South Africa.
“I’ve been playing netball since Grade R. The reason I love netball so much is the teamwork. That’s also the reason I started playing netball. Everyone has a role to play in ultimately scoring a goal.
I still remember my mom tying my hair tight with my first game. Then also the pride when I took a place on the court for the first time with my Bultie match clothes. Frankly, I think with our first game it was organized chaos! Everyone rushed down on the ball…
In my opinion, physicality is cardinal. This will give you and your team a huge advantage over your competitors. It also teach the team to work together. Currently, I am raving about my current position! I’ve played almost all the positions, but to goal I’ve never mastered.
The first time I was chosen as netball captain was in elementary school. The first time I walked onto the court as a netball captain, I felt very proud that my team had so much confidence in me. But also responsibility to lead my team.
Motivation
I keep my team motivated by staying focused on my team’s strengths and encouraging each other. It helps a lot. My strengths as a netball captain are my loyalty to my team as well as endurance.
Thorough preparation and good warm-up are the key to a successful match. What inspires me when I step on the track every time is the camaraderie of our team.
My favourite game so far in my netball career, was our first league game. I had the privilege of jogging out as captain, and we kicked off the season with a convincing victory. A game I don’t like to remember is a particular game last year. It was challenging play, especially in terms of the opponents’ sportsmanship.
The best netball decisions I’ve made so far are to keep with the planned strategy with every game. After a tough match, I have an afterthought myself and pray about it.
Karla Pretorius
My biggest netball hero is Karla Pretorius, who plays for the Protea netball team. She plays an outstanding game. I’ve learned a lot about her way of defence. My personal netball goal for this year is to win the league with my team!
I would love to play netball for a university team after school.
I handle my responsibilities at netball along with my social and academic responsibilities through time management. It plays an important role. Our coach, Miss Lindie Maree, always says; “If you do something, do it to the fullest.” This is true on the netball court, but also from the netball court, with other responsibilities.
My biggest single highlight of my netball career is having the privilege of representing my school in the first netball team. Other activities I participate in are jogging with my dad, and then I participate in other sports as well.
As mentioned earlier is my netball hero, Karla Pretorius. I would love to have coffee with her to get to know her better and receive some tips too!
If I had to describe myself in one word, it would be: ambitious.”
