Husky Rescue. The SCC Outreach boys went with Mrs Joubert, Outreach Club, to the Husky Rescue KZN Centre on Sunday 4th February. The Centre is at Cotswold Farm (R624 Thornville) near Pietermaritzburg. The boys were given a brief overview of what the rescue centre does and how the dogs came to be there.
It was very informative learning about this breed of dog. The Siberian husky is a companion animal with special needs and as a result. It is often misunderstood as a breed as they need to be able to run and be busy with their human counterparts. Being locked up in confinement is devastating to them and they cannot cope with being in confinement for long periods. The Husky Rescue Centre runs as an NPO and relies solely on the public for funds.
The boys were able to walk the dogs on the farm and make the dogs happy. The dogs are very friendly and enjoy being with people. The boys thoroughly enjoyed their Husky Rescue trip. (Mrs Debbie Joubert • Outreach Club)
