Heartwarming Reunion for Alumni. Camps Bay High School proudly hosted its inaugural Timeless Tea event on Friday afternoon. It was a heartwarming reunion that brought together former students who paved the way for the school’s legacy. The event took place in The Break Room, the school’s cafeteria. It offered a nostalgic setting for the attendees to reconnect and reminisce.
The Timeless Tea event was conceived as an opportunity to reunite those who had walked the halls of Camps Bay High School before its relocation to its stunning current location overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in Lower Kloof Road. Many of the guests also had experienced their schooling at what is now the Camps Bay Primary School Preparatory Campus in The Drive, Camps Bay.
Alumni hold a significant place
“It’s a truly special occasion for us to bring together the past and present of Camps Bay High School. The alumni hold a significant place in the school’s history. Camps Bay High wanted to celebrate their contributions,” said Louis Mostert, Principal of Camps Bay High School. “The event not only highlights our school’s evolution but also signifies the lasting bonds that are formed within these walls.”
The afternoon was made even more delightful by a scrumptious spread of treats, meticulously prepared by students from the Catering Society under the skillful guidance of Ms Dineo Samu, Head of Consumer Studies at Camps Bay High School. This culinary experience added a modern touch to the event while preserving the essence of tradition. The guests also enjoyed delightful entertainment provided by the Camps Bay High School Grade 8 Violin Quartet.
Cara Kahn
The visionary behind the Timeless Tea event, Cara Kahn, a second-generation Camps Bay High School student and now the Head of the Camps Bay High School Alumni Association, shared her inspiration for the gathering. “We wanted to create a platform for our alumni to reconnect and share their experiences. The rich history of our school is also built on their stories, and this event is just the beginning of the bonds we aim to strengthen.”
During the event, Kahn warmly welcomed the attendees and shed light on the school’s efforts to reconnect its first pupils while also building a repository for their treasured memories. “Camps Bay High School is not just an institution; it’s also a part of the fabric of this community. Through events like these, we also hope to weave together the tapestry of our school’s journey.”
Adding a contemporary touch to the event, current Grade 9 history students from Camps Bay High School also engaged with the alumni, capturing their firsthand accounts of life “back in the day.” These oral histories provide a bridge between the generations and a glimpse into the evolution of education and society.
The Timeless Tea event witnessed the presence of alumni who had played a vital role in shaping the school’s legacy. The stories exchanged, memories shared, and connections rekindled painted a vivid picture of Camps Bay High School’s enduring impact.
