Head Girl 2025 – Curro Vanderbijlpark

Head Girl 2025. Like we did the past years, schoolsthatrock again chat to the Head Leaders of High Schools in South Africa this year. Today we talk to Shriyah Dewrjram, Head Girl 2025 of Curro Vanderbijlpark.

“I’m looking forward, as Head Girl 2025, to leaving a lasting legacy that instils the core values of our school. My goal is to also foster a sense of pride and tradition among my fellow students. It will ensure that the essence of Curro Vanderbijlpark is felt by everyone.

My personal goal for my leadership year is to empower every student to realize their self-worth and excel in their unique way. For the school, I aim to create an environment where each individual can thrive, embracing diversity and inclusion while supporting one another.

Qualities of our school

The qualities of our school that stand out mostly is the support system at Curro Vanderbijlpark. From day one, it has truly felt like home. The continuous support from my peers and teachers has been instrumental in helping me achieve everything I have.

There are a few areas I’d like to improve. Particularly in fostering greater student involvement through the introduction of more diverse committees. This will help enhance school engagement and promote a sense of ownership and pride.

Persuading someone to make our school their choice of school, I would highlight the exceptional quality of education. I would also highlight the wide range of resources and the culture of support at Curro Vanderbijlpark. Our educators are approachable and dedicated, with an open-door policy for both students and parents.

Strongest leadership trait

My strongest leadership trait is my ability to encourage a welcoming, respectful and supportive environment. I focus on patience and mentorship, ensuring that everyone feels valued and empowered to contribute.

I will encourage collaboration through inclusion and recognition. By acknowledging each team member’s contributions, I will also foster a sense of unity and commitment to our shared goals.

The person I look up to the most is, without a doubt, I’d repeatedly choose my mum. Her entrepreneurial journey coupled with her passion driven purpose of creating a better future through sustainable charity projects inspires me to Live a life of Purpose. To be a torch bearer sharing possibility for a brighter future for all. She also inspires me daily to be the best version of myself and to always see the good in all situations.

I often daydream about the endless possibilities for uplifting South Africa. Particularly in providing world-class healthcare and education for all citizens, ensuring a brighter future for everyone.

My absolute favourite dish is my mother’s mutton curry with rice and salad. It’s a comforting and nostalgic meal that brings me joy every time.

If I were a kitchen article, I would be a “fusion illusion,” symbolizing the blending of diverse flavours and the exploration of new tastes. I am a firm believer in the power of diversity and bringing different perspectives together.

The career I want to pursue after school? I plan to pursue a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) at the University of Pretoria. I am fervid about healthcare and extremely excited to contribute to saving lives in the future.”
