Bursary Fund for Future. The Class of 1988 from Camps Bay High School came together for a remarkable 35th-year reunion, proving that the bonds forged during their high school years remain unbreakable even after 35 years. The event, held at the Camps Bay Social Club, was an unforgettable night of reminiscing and celebration. It was also marked by the unmistakable ’80s disco vibes that brought back cherished memories.
The resounding success of this reunion can also be attributed to the unwavering dedication and meticulous planning of Joanne Frost (nee Pienaar), Nicholas Ingel, Byron Ashington, and Candace Bernstein. Their commitment to creating a memorable event for all attendees paid off in spades.
But this reunion was not just about nostalgia. The Class of 1988 united for a noble cause. They want to give back to their beloved alma mater, Camps Bay High School. Together, they raised an astonishing R120,000. The sole purpose was establishing a bursary fund to support deserving learners at the school.
Remarkable generosity
In an act of remarkable generosity, the class has already identified a deserving Grade 8 student who will also be the first beneficiary of this fund. This commitment to the school’s future underscores their dedication to providing bright prospects for the students who enter Camp Bay High School’s doors.
The school community is profoundly grateful for this incredible display of generosity. Plans are also underway to meet with members of the Class of 1988 early next term to discuss the establishment and utilization of the Class of 1988 Bursary Fund.
The reunion held another touching element. A beautiful Wall of Remembrance, a heartfelt tribute created by the Class of 1988 to honour departed classmates and educators. This poignant memorial served as a reminder of the cherished memories and lasting impact that these individuals had on the Class of 1988.
