Comrades Marathon 2024. The Comrades Marathon 2024 is a special time in St Charle College’ province and in their city. Friday’s Preparatory assembly, titled ‘Endurance’ allowed for the opportunity to not only focus on this year’s staff running the ultra-marathon but also to bring home the many wonderful endurance activities which take place on their very doorstep. The Midmar Mile, Duzi Canoe Marathon and the World Champs Downhill Mountain Biking are but a few of the remarkable endurance activities happening within a 30km radius of the city.
Friday’s assembly took the form of two interview panels. The first round included homegrown talent: – Grade 12 endurance athletes, Greg Palframan (canoeing), Liam Searle (swimming) and Omar Wilson (cycling). They all shared their passion for their respective sport and their words of wisdom with our boys.
The latter part of the assembly was spent getting to know our St Charles College staff who are bravely lining up to attempt and (hopefully) complete this year’s Comrades Marathon. A loud and interactive Chapel was a testament to a highly enjoyable and informative assembly.
St Charles College wish all their Staff, Parents, Saints Boys (assisting on the day) and Friends of the College the absolute best as they endure on Sunday! It has been months and months of training. Many early mornings and lost sleep. It also include hours upon hours of mindless running kilometre after kilometre, and much family time sacrificed. “We will all be thinking of you all on your journey and wish you every success on the day. Make us proud!” – Dean Riley (Marketing Manager).
