National LAN 2023 competition – Curro Esports

National LAN 2023 competition. The gaming world was on the edge of its seats last week, as Curro Esports, a pioneer in providing competitive gaming opportunities for young learners, concluded its highly anticipated Curro Clash National LAN 2023.

Spanning across two physical venues, Curro Durbanville in Cape Town and Curro Rivonia in Gauteng, as well as the limitless digital frontier, this event brought together the most passionate and skilled gamers from various schools across the country.  From Wednesday, 27 September to Saturday, 30 September 2023, the virtual stage played host to 293 players from 32 schools. They battled it out in a thrilling Esports extravaganza, supported by 50 dedicated coaches.

Over the course of three intense days, participants were organised into teams. It was based on age and competed in several gaming titles such as Minecraft Build Battle, Minecraft PVP, Apex Legends, Overwatch 2, and Rocket League. The competition structure was designed to push players to their limits, with Round Robin stages also leading to nail-biting knockout rounds.

Live-streaming the final matches

Adding to the excitement, Curro Esports also provided a front-row seat to the action by live-streaming the final matches on Twitch. Fans, families, and Esports enthusiasts from around the country had the opportunity to witness the incredible skills and sportsmanship displayed by these young gaming prodigies.

Level Up: Putting Esports on the National Map

In an era where digital learning is paramount, Curro has spearheaded efforts to seamlessly integrate Esports into its extra-curricular programs, and as a result, Curro Esports is known for its commitment to crafting a vibrant Esports community within the realm of education, not only to their own schools but through tournaments like these amongst schools across the country. Thanks to their partnership with Acer for Education, the leading independent school group in South Africa, continues to provide a secure Esports platform, ensuring that learners can explore their passion for gaming while staying safe online.

Curro launched its inaugural Curro Clash LAN in March 2023, followed by a second instalment in June 2023. Building on the success of these events, Curro Clash National LAN 2023 also marked the evolution of a modest LAN competition into a nationally acclaimed Esports spectacle.
