schoolsthatrockNuclear Physics Presentation. St Charles College, Pietermaritzburg, Grade 10 physics boys have spent the last few weeks learning about nuclear physics in class.
On Wednesday, 6 September, the physics boys were given a Nuclear Physics presentation by Professor Matthew Akerman. Professor Akerman is from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and his research is in the development of radiotherapeutics. The boys were walked through what it is like to work in a nuclear laboratory and the precautions that you need to take.
They were also shown real-world applications of what they had been learning in class. The newly built lecture theatres provided an ideal venue for this presentation. – Dr Kate Akerman (Head of Science Faculty at St Charles College).
