Curro Baobab School. Curro Holdings, the JSE-listed independent school group, is delighted to announce the appointment of Charles Solomon as the new Executive Head of Baobab School in Gaborone. The appointment in Botswana is from from the 1st of January 2023.
Possessing more than a quarter of a century’s worth of teaching and leadership, the South African professional also joins the school armed with a wealth of operational experience working within Botswana’s thriving education sector.
Prior to joining Curro, Charles was the Principal of the Rainbow schools’ campus in Gaborone. His focus was on maintaining sustainability and boosting academic performance. Before this, he was instrumental in helping build both Kgaswe High School in Palapye and Clifton College in Francistown from the ground up. As a founding headteacher of both schools, he successfully executed his vision, spearheading community cohesion and expanding the schools beyond every expectation.
Mountain of challenges
Fully aware of but equally undaunted by the mountain of challenges faced by many children in the local area, Charles is determined and passionate. He is especially looking forward to working closely with his team of talented staff to craft a stimulating teaching culture that is modelled on Curro’s mission, vision, learning model and core values.
“As teachers, we have a tremendous responsibility to ensure that the next generation of learners is equipped with the necessary skills to enter the working world as capable and confident adults. My philosophy has always been that if something is important to my learners, then it is important to me and I am excited to bring this to Curro’s Baobab School,” he explains.
