schoolsthatrockHoofleier 2023. In ons reeks oor skole se hoofleiers vir 2023, gesels Schools That Rock met Hefan Smith. Hefan, Hoofseun van Hoërskool Bultfontein vir 2023, vertel ons meer van homself en sy leierskap.
“Morele krag is my dryfrat as Hoofseun van Hoërskool Bultfontein in 2023. Ek is passievol, bedagsaam en altyd dankbaar teenoor ons Hemelse Vader. Ek staan op vir mense wie se stem nie gehoor word nie. Om ons skool se waardes uit te leef is een van my doelwitte.
My persoonlike doelwitte vir volgende jaar is om universitetstoelating te kry. Ek wil na skool Politieke Wetenskap/ Regte studeer. Ek wil ook graag my mede-leerders steun en opbou waar ek kan, sodat hulle hul struikelblokke wat moontlik bestaan, kan oorkom.
My doelwitte as Hoofleier vir 2023 gedurende my dienstermyn is om die leerders te motiveer om saam te groei en te verbeter. Ek wil ook die leerders lei om as ‘n span saam te werk. Om leiding te gee is vir my belangrik.
Grootste uitdagings
As leerder van Hoërskool Bultfontein was die grootste uitdagings wat ek moes oorkom, die Covid pandemie. Ek het baie sosialisering met my vriende verloor en dit het ‘n groot impak op my lewe gemaak. Sosialisering is van kardinale vir ons as tieners.
Wat vir my die meeste uitstaan by Bulties, is geloof. Ons skool het ‘n baie sterk band met God. Ek voel dat ons die Latynse spreekwoord Soli Deo Gloria (Alles tot eer van God) ten volle uitleef in alles wat ons doen.
Die persoon na wie ek die meeste opsien vir inspirasie en mentorskap, is Mnr PW van Aswegen. Hy is ons skoolhoof. Hy is vir seker iemand wat leiding en vertroosting in iemand kan gee.
As ek ‘n kombuis-atikel moet wees, sal ek sê ek is my ma se Nataniël – vatlappie. Ek is nie bang vir ‘ “warm” konfrontasie nie.
My vriende sal my beskryf as eksoties, besig en aggressief. Aan die ander kant is ek ook liefdevol en lief vir die natuur. Ek hou ook daarvan om tyd deur te bring saam met vriende en familie.
Ek sal beslis leerders aanraai om na Bulties te kom. Deur die Bulties-waardes aan hulle te modelleer. Betroubaarheid, Uitnemendheid, Lojaliteit, toegewydheid, Integriteit en selfbeheersing.
My toekoms-ideale is om die beste ek te wees wat ek kan wees.
Headleader 2023
In our series on schools’ headleaders for next year, Schools That Rock talks to Hefan Smith. Hefan, Head Boy of Bultfontein High School for 2023, tells us more about himself and his leadership.
“Moral strength is my driving force as Head Boy of Bultfontein High School in 2023. I am passionate, considerate, and always grateful to our Heavenly Father. I stand up for people whose voice is not heard. Living our school’s values is also one of my goals.
My personal goals for next year are to get university admission. I want to study Political Science/Law after school. I would also like to support and build my fellow learners where I can so that they can overcome their obstacles that may exist.
My goals for my term of service are to motivate learners to grow and improve together. I also want to guide the learners to work together as a team. Providing guidance is also important to me.
As a learner of Bultfontein High School, the biggest challenges I had to overcome were the Covid pandemic. I lost a lot of socialization with my friends and it made a huge impact on my life. Socialization is crucial for us as teenagers.
Bond with God
What stands out most to me about Bulties is faith. Our school has a very strong bond with God. I feel that we live out the Latin proverb Soli Deo Gloria (All for the glory of God) fully in everything we do.
The person I look up to the most for inspiration and mentorship is Mr PW van Aswegen. He’s our principal. He is certainly someone who can bring guidance and comfort in someone.
If I have to be a kitchen atycle, I’ll say I’m my mother’s Nathaniel — barrel patch. I’m not afraid of a “hot” confrontation.
My friends would describe me as exotic, busy, and aggressive. On the other hand, I am also affectionate and fond of nature. I also love spending time with friends and family.
I would advise learners to come to Bulties. By modeling the Bulties values to them. Trustworthiness, Excellence, Loyalty, Commitment, Integrity and Self-Control.
My future goals are to be the best I can be.
