Hoofseun Sentraal – Schools That Rock gesels met Lambrecht Scheepers

Hoofseun Sentraal.

The Lord my inspiration

Die Here is my inspirasie en Hy dien as my voorbeeld vir hoe om te leef.

Indien ek ‘n kombuis-artikel moes wees, sou ek sê ek is ‘n lepel.

My vriende sou my beskryf as onvoorspelbaar, skaamteloos, hulpvaardig, uitgaande, aandag-afleibaar, lojaal en eerlik.

My gunsteling onderwyseres is Juffrou Reanda van Pletzen.

Dit is hoekom sy my gunsteling onderwyseres is.

Toekoms ideale

 Head Boy Sentraal

In our series on high schools’ Head Boys for next year, Schools That Rock talks to Lambrecht Scheepers. Lambrecht, Head Boy ofSentraall High School for 2023, tells us more about himself and his leadership.

“I am Lambrecht Scheepers, a 17-year-old boy from Bloemfontein and the Head Boy of Sentraal High School for the 2022,2023 term. I grew up in Afrikaans culture and with Christian values. The leader of my life is the Lord and so I lead under His guidance. I believe in leading with love and respect, but also in not putting yourself above others. If you’re going to see yourself as an entity on your own or on a different level than the other leaders and learners, there’s not going to be respect from either side. So you’re not going to make a real difference. Christ set me the example of how to lead with love and service to those who follow you.

My personal goal for next year is to play for Sentraal High School’s first Rugby team. Academically, I would like to produce my best work. I also want to be in the Free State’s top 25 learners group, as well as win 7 distinctions during the Matric final exam.

Goals for Sentraal

My goals for Sentraal during my year of service are that we as learner council plan many goals. The biggest goal is being an inspiration to learners. We also want to make them proud, which will lead them to work even harder and reach their potential. We also want to create a space where learners feel comfortable growing and working hard.

For me, the biggest challenges as a learner of Sentraal High School, were finding time for rest between extracurricular activities and schoolwork. Another challenge is to always stay motivated during exams and test sequences when there is a lot of learning and little time.

What stands out most to me at our school is the spirit. The fact that you feel like part of a family cannot be described. Respect is the most important value in Sentraal High School. Here we focus on it because all our other values come with it. We are an Afrikaans school of which very little is left. We are very proud to be Afrikaans. Not only Afrikaans as a language, but we are also proud of every culture in our school. I believe it should be kept.

The Lord is my inspiration and He serves as my example for how to live. I choose to live under his direction and place my full trust in him.

Kitchen article

If I had to be a kitchen article, I’d say I’m a spoon. That’s because I can be helpful in many ways. However, I will stand away when there is someone more experienced to take over for the task.

My friends would describe me as unpredictable, shameless, helpful, outgoing, attention-distracting, loyal, and honest.

From grade four I have been dreaming and planning to become an engineer and change the world. My motivation is to change the world for the better and not to disappoint my younger self. My parents are also very important in my motivation because they are always there for me if I achieve success or fail and always know when I still have to give.

Come to Sentraal

If learners come to Sentraal High School, learners will receive incredible help, their resources and support. Sentraal offers everything they need to grow and improve in their passions and interests. They will also experience a sense of friendship, family, spirit, and unity. You won’t find it anywhere else because Sentraal supports, encourages, accepts, and helps each other where they need it.

My favorite teacher is Miss Reanda van Pletzen. Miss Reanda is an incredibly good teacher with a passion for her subject and an even greater passion for the learners. She has a love for one and every child she teaches and so do each of those children have a love for her too. She works hard and jokes when there is time for joking. Me Reanda works in such a way that will give any child the motivation to put in time. She understands the pressure that a teenager feels at school and she is always there for any child who need help with maths or with life.

Me Reanda is exceptionally qualified, but in her math class you learn more than just math. She builds your character and she improves you as a person. She believes in every learner who enters her class and knows that they have the ability to achieve amazing things. I’ve never, in the two years I’ve been with her class, sadly walked out of her class. This is why she is my favorite teacher.

My future goals are to study Mechatronic engineering after matric. Then I plan to work on projects that improve the world’s conditions or simplify life until I can lead or handle those projects myself. The purpose is so that society can develop, become more sustainable and life is better for generations to come.
