Sporting achievements: Herewith some fantastic sporting achievements from Collegiate Girls’ High School, Gqeberha, during the past few weeks.
Top 12 hockey event
The CGHS U17A team participated in the U17 Top Schools event. Paarl Gymnasium hosted the event. The team won three out of four Pool matches to finish second on the log. They set up a semi final with their arch Rivals, Oranje Girls from Bloemfontein. Unfortunately Collegiate’s counterparts from Bloemfontein were too strong on the day. They went down by 0 – 5. In the third and fourth play-off game, Collegiate played out to a scored draw to the hosts, Paarl Gymnasium. Unfortunately they lost out on a shoot out to finish in an impressive fourth position.
Iman Akomolafe was also selected for the SA U17A side to participate in the EU Nations Tournament in BRNO, CZECH Republic from 7 to 10 October.
Twane Slabbert was also selected to represent Central Gauteng in the Inter-Provincial Indoor Cricket Tournament. The tournament is from 22 to 23 September. Twane was then also selected to the SA U21 Ladies Indoor Cricket side. The team will tour Australia in 2022.
Chelsey Cooke was also selected to the National Ladies Lifesaving Team. She will also represent Team SA at the 2021 ILS Africa Championships. The championships takes place from 1 – 5 December in Alexandria, Egypt,
Tiara Finnis was also selected to Team South Africa. The team will participate in the Cana African Junior/ senior Championships. The championships take place from 11 to 17 October in Accra, Ghana.
Collegiate is extremely proud of their girls.
