It is a priviledge for Schools That Rock to introduce Nicole Kennedy, captain of Edgemead’s first team Netball, to the visitors to our website.
My name is Nicole Kennedy, I started playing Netball at the age of 7. From grade 2 I used to play WD (wing defence) up until grade 6. In grade 7 my coach put me as a GA (goal attack), not feeling confident about this position at all, but then I ended up loving this position. In grade 8 and 9 I still carried on playing GA. I then made first team Netball in grade 10 and I had to go on as a C (centre) and a WA (wing attack). I am in grade 12 and I still currently play those positions. Apart from being the first teams captain in grade 9 I was the vice-captain. I go for regular jogs every second day in the evening and I play Action Netball which also helps with my fitness levels. I currently play school Netball and I have also been playing indoor Netball since grade 8. I prefer to play team sports as you learn more from other people because maybe some of their strengths could be your weaknesses and this could improve you as a player. As the captain I would like to see my teammates grow individually and motivate each other to become better players. I support and believe in each and everyone of my players even if mistakes are made, we are there to help each other out. I would love to carry on with sports in the future, I will carry on with indoor Netball. Netball has been a huge part of my schooling career and I will never lose the passion I have for this sport.
