Schools That Rock chat to Lukhanyo Nkonzo

Schools That Rock asked a few questions to Lukhanyo Nkonzo, Head Prefect of Pietermaritzburg Girls’ High School.

Question: Are there any changes or adjustments you would like to see happen at your school? Creating a sense of pride and unity among the girls where we all  can embody our school motto “Cheerfulness with Industry” will instil a feeling of warmth and unity between the girls and staff members and would create a safe space for everyone to express who they truly are without feeling judged and look forward to coming to school because of the environment created.

Question: If you had to make a statement to convince someone that your school is the right choice, what would that statement be?
At Pietermaritzburg Girls’ High we are an authentic group of girls who come from different backgrounds, cultures and religions but united as one we embrace our differences which therefore makes us stronger as a sisterhood. You won’t regret coming to our prestigious school as we offer a variety of extra-circular activities which include culture, sport and societies. As an individual you are free to fulfil your passion while receiving the best quality education.

Question: Which sport activity offered at your school is your favourite? This is a tough one because I simply can’t choose between Hockey and Basketball.

Question: What is your favourite meal? Chicken Alfredo Pasta.

Question: Which career choices are you considering after school? I am considering choosing Sports Science to become a Physiotherapist or Biokineticist as my first choice and Law to specialize in Sports Law as my second choice.

Question: Which university do you want to attend next year? I would love to attend the University of Cape Town or the University of Stellenbosch.

Question: Do you have a message for your fellow pupils for 2021? My message to my fellow peers for 2021 would be: ” I know that this year may not look promising or may pretty much look like 2020 but 2021 is your new chapter, despite everything happening around us you are the only person who will decide what you want to write about in this new chapter of your life. Write about how you conquered obstacles you never knew you could, or how you achieved your goals under difficult circumstances, or how you created endless memories to last a lifetime. Don’t regret what you could’ve or should’ve done but didn’t do because you feared the unknown. At the end of the day the decision lies with you.
