We are excited to announce that Sulinke Van Den Berg has officially signed onto the team here at UJ! Sulinke attends C&N Sekondere Meisieskool Oranje, in South Africa where she will graduate in 2021. Sulinke currently swims with the Bloemfontein Super Seals where she has competed at events like South Africa National Aquatic Championship and FS Championships. During her swimming career, Sulinke has achieved many impressive LCM (long course) times including 50 Free 28.5sec, 100 Free 1.01.45sec, 200 Free 2.13.74 sec, 200 Back 2.30.47sec, 200 IM 2.31.26sec, 400 Free 4.41.29sec, 100 Fly 108.00 sec, 100 Back 1.09.56. Sulinke joins the team here at the University of Jamestown boasting a total of 11 NAIA National Championship B cut times.
Sulinke’s favorite thing about swimming is “When hard work pays off. The memories, friendships, the suffering together as a team. The determination, respect and discipline it builds”. Coach Alex is excited to have Sulinke sign onto the team and see her develop both as an athlete and a leader. Sulinke says she fell in love with UJ during her virtual tour. She is excited about the snow, religion, small family sized university, her new swim coach, the warmth, friendliness and a sense of belonging as well as the strong academics the university has to offer. Sulinke will be a strong representative for our team, we can tell already! She says “Jimmy blood is already running through my veins. So excited!”. We are so excited to have you too Sulinke!
