Calvin de Vos, a grade 12 learner at Kimberley Boys’ High School has received the highest honour at the school in the subject of Music. Calvin plays the saxophone and he passed his grade 8 practical examination with the Trinity College of London with a distinction.
Some of the wonderful comments on his report include:
” The lilting dance mood was clearly conveyed with effective rubato and well controlled articulation…”
“The gentle flowing style was clearly shown with precise articulation and controlled finger work…”
This honour means that Calvin also met a certain criteria set by the school which includes attending 90% of all rehearsals, passing the grade 8 practical exam through a recognised external examination body, taking part in 5 or more public performances and being selected to perform for the National Youth Symphony Orchestra, among others.
Calvin, hit the target with this colossal achievement. The school headmaster, Mr G.R Steele who presided over the Honours Blazer handing ceremony commended Calvin on such hard work that embodies the school motto, Per Labores Ad Honores.
