Leave it to Union’s teachers to make math fun and engaging…
As part of a recent ‘Working with Instruction Texts’ lesson plan, the Grade 10’s in Mathematical Literacy were
given pictures of instructions which they had to try and explain to the rest of the class.
Some of the instructions included how to make flapjacks, folding a paper airplane, how to help someone who
is choking, how to surf, how to stop bleeding and how to measure rainfall. Many of the learners succeeded in
being very descriptive, thoroughly engaging the rest of the class and causing a lot of laughs in the process.
