News from swimming boys. As we celebrate the birthday of our MIC of Swimming today, it feels especially fitting to shine a spotlight on the recent achievements of our swimming boys!
🌊 Campbell Turner – Level 3 Regional Championship Gala (Bloemfontein, 27–30 March)
Campbell delivered a phenomenal performance, swimming personal bests in all his events and earning outstanding results in the Boys U13 age group:
- 50m Breaststroke – 1st (35:33)
- 50m Freestyle – 1st (28:09)
- 100m Breaststroke – 2nd (1:23:38)
- 200m Breaststroke – 2nd (3:03:22)
- 100m Freestyle – 6th
Relay achievements:
- 13–14 Medley Relay – 2nd place
- 15–16 Freestyle Relay – 3rd place
Bandile Mahaye & Samuel Gilson – National Junior Swimming Championships (Gqeberha, 21–25 March)
Both boys qualified for this prestigious event and swam with determination against South Africa’s finest junior athletes.
Bandile Mahaye (Boys U14):
- 50m Butterfly – 4th (27:39)
- 50m Freestyle – 4th (25:35)
- 100m Freestyle – 4th (55:66)
- 50m Breaststroke – 6th (32:07)
Samuel Gilson (Boys U15):
- 50m Breaststroke – 8th (31:26)
- 100m Breaststroke – PB (1:11:13)
- 200m Breaststroke – 10th (2:38:32)
Looking ahead, Bandile and Samuel will represent Michaelhouse at the South African Schools Championship (University of the Western Cape, 24–27 April). Michaelhouse wishes them every success as they compete on this national stage.
