Dusi Canoe Marathon. Camps Bay High School Learner Secures Top 10 Finish at Dusi Canoe Marathon.
Camps Bay High School proudly announces that Grade 12 learner Ryley Smith has achieved a remarkable Top 10 overall finish at the world-renowned Dusi Canoe Marathon, held annually between Pietermaritzburg and Durban.
Competing in the K2 (Doubles) category alongside 17-year-old Keegan Vogt of Maritzburg College, the duo delivered an outstanding performance. They placed second in the U18 Division and 10th overall out of 223 finishers, completing the gruelling three-day, 120-kilometre race in a combined time of 7:50:32.
Ryley reflected on the achievement: “A Top 10 overall finish was our goal going into the race, so achieving it feels amazing. We had a lot of fun shooting the big rapids, and Day 3 was especially great.”
Head of Sport at Camps Bay High School, Ms Busi Ngcwama, praised Ryley’s accomplishment: “To finish in the Top 10 overall in an event of this calibre speaks volumes about his discipline, resilience, and competitive maturity. We are immensely proud of the way he represented Camps Bay High School and inspired our sporting community.”
