“My name is Andrew Schnell, and I have the privilege of serving as the Ellis Head of House for 2026.
I grew up in Durban and attended Clifton Preparatory School. Here, my passion for sport—particularly rugby and water polo—first took root. These early experiences also shaped my character and instilled in me the values of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance.
Upon arriving at Hilton, I was immediately struck by the deep sense of brotherhood and pride that defines Ellis. To me, Ellis has always stood apart as the house that fosters the strongest relationships and also creates an environment where boys are encouraged to thrive, pursue their interests, and grow into well-rounded individuals.
As Head of House, my vision for 2026 is also to make Ellis the flagship house. It will be a home that sets the standard across Hilton. I am committed to building on the legacy of previous Heads of House. This will be done by upholding a culture of leadership, unity, and excellence. My goal is to ensure that every boy in Ellis feels supported. Furthermore, they will feel challenged and inspired to contribute meaningfully to our community.
Ellis is more than just a house; it is also a family. Together, we will continue to strengthen the bonds that make Ellis unique. We will also ensure that our traditions of pride and brotherhood endure for generations to come.”
