Western Cape Long Course A. 🏊 Somerset College Swimming Update.
Somerset College is thrilled to celebrate the outstanding achievements of Nia O’Carroll (Grade 9), who continues to shine in the pool as a competitive swimmer with Stellenbosch Aquatics. Nia has qualified to represent at the Western Cape Long Course A Championships, taking place in Malmesbury from 4–8 December 2025 — a prestigious event showcasing the province’s finest swimmers.
Nia’s Achievements
- Qualified in 13 events across all strokes — a remarkable accomplishment at her age.
- Selected to compete in 9 events, demonstrating both versatility and endurance:
- Freestyle: 50m, 100m, 200m & 400m
- Backstroke: 50m, 100m & 200m
- Breaststroke: 100m
- Individual Medley: 200m

Nia’s qualification is the result of:
- Countless hours of training in the pool.
- An intensive 27-day land-training block, building strength and resilience.
- Her unwavering commitment, discipline, and passion for swimming.
