President’s Award Gold. St Charles College, Pietermaritzburg, is proud to celebrate a remarkable achievement by Sduduzo Mtalane (Grade 12). He has earned the prestigious Gold Level in the President’s Award for Youth Empowerment. This accolade represents the highest tier of recognition within the programme, which is part of the globally respected Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award.
The President’s Award challenges young people to set and accomplish goals across four key areas. It includes community service, skills development, physical recreation, as well as adventurous journeys. At the Gold Level, participants must also complete a residential project. They are demonstrating leadership, resilience, and a deep commitment to personal growth.
Sduduzo’s journey through the programme was also marked by exceptional dedication and perseverance. He contributed meaningfully to his community through volunteer work, cultivated new skills, and also embraced physically demanding challenges with determination. Sduduzo completed the Gold Award during his Matric year. While managing the academic pressures of Grade 12, this accomplishment becomes all the more commendable.
Sduduzo’s achievement is a shining example of what can be accomplished through hard work, resilience, and a spirit of service. His Gold Award is a proud milestone for himself, his family, and the entire St Charles College community. – Mrs Eliana le Roux
