Canoe Marathon World Championships. From Camps Bay High to the World Stage! 🌍🚣♂️
Camps Bay High School is bursting with pride as Grade 11 learner Ryley Smith, alongside his Junior Men’s K2 partner Keegan Vogt from Maritzburg College, clinched bronze at the 2025 ICF Canoe Marathon World Championships in Győr, Hungary!
From the first stroke to the final sprint, Ryley and Keegan held their place among the top contenders, showcasing elite strategy, composure, and endurance in one of the most competitive races on the global paddling calendar. Their performance was nothing short of world-class.
But the achievements didn’t stop there. Ryley and fellow Camps Bay paddler Jared Shrimpton took on the Short Course event, a high-speed, tactical showdown. Ryley powered to a 4th place finish, with Jared close behind in 7th, both demonstrating exceptional grit and skill.
👏 These young athletes have not only represented Paddlesport South Africa with distinction, but have also flown the Camps Bay High flag high on the international stage. Their success is a testament to talent, hard work, and heart.
