The past week proved demanding for Kearsney College’s indoor hockey teams, especially with the Matrics balancing their trial exams alongside a packed fixture list.
Wednesday: Kearsney’s 1st indoor hockey team faced Northwood’s 2nd team in a thrilling midweek clash. The hosts came out firing, racing to a 3-goal lead with sharp attacking play. Northwood College, however, showed resilience, clawing back to level the score at 3-3 and applying sustained pressure. In a tense final stretch, Kearsney broke the deadlock with a swift counterattack and added two more goals to seal a well-earned 6-3 victory.
Thursday: With no substitutions available, Kearsney entered their match against Glenwood at a clear disadvantage. The fatigue was evident, particularly in missed opportunities during crucial phases. Despite a spirited performance, the team fell 0-2 in a tough outing.
Clifton College Encounter: Soon after, Kearsney took on Clifton College in a high-octane showdown. Both sides showcased impressive skill and tenacity, trading goals in a tightly contested battle. Kearsney created multiple chances—especially from penalty corners—but couldn’t capitalize. The match ended in a narrow 3-4 defeat, underscoring the intensity and competitiveness of the encounter.
