Top Hockey Fives Tournament. 🏑 Kearsney College Welcomes Top Schools for Annual Hockey Fives Tournament.
Kearsney College is proud to host the 2025 edition of the Kearsney Hockey Fives (KH5s) Tournament. It is taking place from Friday to Sunday, 22–24 August. This high-energy event will bring together 26 teams from leading schools across South Africa. They will be competing in a fast-paced format that has become a highlight on the national school hockey calendar.
A Showcase of Youth Talent
The tournament features three divisions: boys’ high schools, girls’ high schools, and boys’ primary schools. Participating teams include:
Boys’ High Schools: Ashton International College (Ballito), Durban High School, Hoërskool Garsfontein (Pretoria), Hilton College, Michaelhouse, St Albans College (Pretoria), Westville Boys’ High, and hosts Kearsney College.
Girls’ High Schools: Ashton College, Curro Hillcrest, Danville Park Girls’ High, Epworth High, Maris Stella, and St Mary’s DSG.
Primary Schools: Ashton College, Atholl Heights Primary, Bonisanani Senior Primary (Ntuzuma), Cowan House, Highbury Prep, Hillcrest Primary, Kloof Senior Primary, Penzance Primary, Reddam House Ballito, Umhlali Prep, Westville Senior Primary, and Winston Park Primary.
Fast, Fierce, and Fan-Friendly
Introduced in 2017, the KH5s format features five players per team—four field players and a goalkeeper. They are competing on a half-sized pitch enclosed by boundary walls. Inspired by the success of T20 Cricket and Sevens Rugby, this compact version of hockey emphasizes speed, agility, and tactical precision.
The result is a thrilling spectacle that demands quick decision-making and relentless intensity. It offers an electrifying experience for both players and spectators.
Community Invitation
Kearsney College warmly invites the public to attend this exciting weekend of sport. Entry is free, with secure parking available on site. A variety of food and refreshments will be offered at the hockey astro and the campus coffee shop, making it a perfect outing for families and sports enthusiasts.
