U18 Hockey Nationals. 🏑 Michaelhouse hockey boys shine at U18 Nationals!
Michaelhouse, KZN Midlands, is beaming with pride as four of its hockey stars — Thandanani Zuma, Gregor von Mayer, Ben Heuer, and Gordon Deutscher. They made a stellar impact at the U18 Hockey Nationals, held recently in Pietermaritzburg. Their performances were also a testament to the passion, discipline, and determination that define Michaelhouse hockey.
These young boys were expertly guided and supported by two of our dedicated staff members. Mr Nick Bérichon, serves as Performance Analyst for the KZN Inland U18A team. Mr Jason Syce, is the team’s committed Manager. Their leadership and mentorship were invaluable throughout the campaign.
National Honours for Thandanani Zuma
A monumental moment came as Thandanani Zuma earned national honours. This is also an achievement that speaks volumes about his talent and perseverance. Following his impressive performance at the U18 Nationals and consistent excellence throughout the season, Thandanani has been selected for the South African U17A Hockey Team!
Your hard work, sharp instincts, and calm presence on the pitch have earned you this recognition, Thandanani. Michaelhouse couldn’t be prouder. Your journey is only beginning, and we eagerly await the next chapter of your hockey story.
Goalscoring machine: Gordon Deutscher
The goals kept flowing thanks to Gordon Deutscher. His electric form also saw him finish as the second-highest goalscorer of the tournament. With a jaw-dropping 27 goals in 27 matches this season, Gordon proved to be a clinical finisher. He is also a constant threat in front of the goal.
Though national selection wasn’t possible due to his German citizenship, Gordon’s outstanding tournament performance left no doubt: his talent is world-class, and his influence on the game undeniable.
This generation of Michaelhouse hockey players is not just making history — they’re redefining excellence. 🇿🇦
