Vietnam International Mathematics Competition. South African Student Heads to Vietnam for International Mathematics Challenge.
Bloemfontein, South Africa – Local talent shines on the global stage as Grade 10 student Reece Engelbrecht secures his spot on the official South African team for the Vietnam International Mathematics Competition (VIMC) 2025. The prestigious competition will take place in Danang, Vietnam, this August.
Reece’s selection marks a significant achievement. He is one of only two students from the Western Cape to represent South Africa. Last year, he was also invited to join the national team competing in India but declined at the time. This year, he embraces the opportunity with great enthusiasm.
In preparation for the upcoming competition, Reece will travel to Bloemfontein during the June/July school holidays. Here Reece will to train with his team. The rigorous training will sharpen his skills. It will ensure the team is ready to take on top mathematical minds from around the world.
This achievement is not only a personal milestone but also a proud moment for SACS and South Africa as a whole. Reece’s dedication and talent make him a true ambassador for both his school and country on the global mathematics stage.
As August approaches, all eyes will be on this young mathematician as he prepares to showcase his skills and represent his nation with pride.
