U20 Men’s National Soccer. Meridian Northern Academy’s Grade 12 learner and 1st team football star, Thato Mpati, has been selected to represent South Africa in the under-20 men’s national team. A natural leader with exceptional talent, Thato has also been an integral part of Meridian Northern Academy’s football success. He was a key player in the team. They also won the prestigious Kay Motsepe schools’ championship in 2024. The team was crowned the under-19 national football champions. Thato’s selection for the men’s national team is a testament to his hard work and the strong football development programme at Meridian Northern Academy, which continues to produce top young talent.

Thato will join the national squad as they begin their AFCON preparation camp. This includes two friendly matches against Botswana’s under-20 team. The matches will take place at the UJ Soweto Campus. The first fixture is scheduled for 22 March and the second for 25 March. Thato’s call-up is a proud moment for the school as well as a reflection of the growing football talent in Limpopo.
