Making Waves at Midmar – St Charles College

Making Waves at Midmar. The Midmar Mile, the world’s largest open-water swimming event, once again brought together thousands of athletes from across the country and beyond. This year, St Charles College was proud to participate in this historic event, making waves at Midmar with both competitive swimmers and dedicated volunteers contributing to its success.

Among the standout performances were Rayhan Khonat and Shane Van der Linde, who both secured top 20 finishes in their respective category. Competing against some of the best open-water swimmers in the world, their results highlighted their skill, endurance, and commitment to the sport. Their hard work in training paid off, and they can be incredibly proud of their achievements in such a prestigious race.

St Charles College’s impact extended beyond the water

However, St Charles College’s impact extended beyond the water. Several of our boys and staff took on important roles as helpers throughout the event, assisting with the start and ensuring the smooth running of the day. Their willingness to give back to the community and be part of such a significant occasion exemplifies the spirit of camaraderie and service that St Charles College encourages in all its students.

The Midmar Mile is more than just a race – it is a celebration of endurance, perseverance, and sportsmanship. Our swimmers’ performance while also contributing behind the scenes is a testament to the well-rounded nature of St Charles College’s sporting culture. We are incredibly proud of all our representatives, whether in the water or on the banks of Midmar Dam, and we look forward to building on this success in future events.

A huge congratulations to Rayhan, Shane, and all the St Charles College boys and staff who played a role in this year’s Midmar Mile.

“Your efforts and dedication have once again shown why our school continues to excel, not just in academics but in sports and community involvement as well.” – Mr Brett Croeser
