Head Boy 2025. This year, schoolsthatrock is once again talking to the Head leaders of High Schools in South Africa. Today chat with to Joshoea Fox, Head Boy 2025 of Curro Somerset West.
“As Head Boy 2025, I am looking forward to the collaboration with the rest of the SRC and making a difference in my school. I am also looking forward to furthering my leadership skills and experience. I am also looking forward to helping the rest of my team become the best leaders that they can be. Furthermore I want to get help from them to be the best leader that I can be.
My personal goals for this year, I would like to become the best leader that I can. I also want to reach my full potential. I want to make school a place that learners and teachers look forward to instead of feeling forced to be here.
Qualities of Curro Somerset West
The qualities of Curro Somerset West that stand out the most, are the educators who really care for the students. They genuinely want what is best for the students and want to see them thrive and become the best version of themselves.
My school does an amazing job offering extra-curricular activities to accommodate the majority of learners. Along with, I would like to introduce student lead clubs and workshops. This will allow learners to do more specific extra curricular activities.
To persuade someone to make our school their choice, I would say that there is an extremely good support system behind each and every single learner.
Strongest leadership trait
I would say that my strongest leadership trait is that I am always willing to accept and see others ideas and I am not biased towards my own thinking. I would like to everyone become the best version of themselves that they can be.
To get collaboration (commitment) from my team, I will ensure that the rest of my team is comfortable to come to me with their opinions. I also expect them to tell me if they have different opinions to me. Furthermore I want my team to know that I am approachable. I will also make sure that they are willing and feel comfortable to come to me with their problems.
Who do I look up to the most? The two people I look up to most, are my parents. They are very good leaders and are always willing to give all the advice that they can.
My favourite dish is, without a doubt, Sushi.
If I was a kitchen article, I would be a kitchen timer as they are organized and punctual and make sure that everything is going as planned.
I am usually daydreaming about travelling once I am finished with my studies.
At this stage I am not entirely sure what I would like to study after school but at the moment I would like to go into engineering, specifically automotive engineering. I would also be interested in studying at Stellenbosch University or the University of Cape Town.
