Schools Basket Ball. This group of Kearsney’s 1st Basket Ball team players had not beaten Durban High School since arriving at Kearsney. They were keen to host their Durban rivals on Saturday.
Kearsney started strongly and got a five-point lead through accurate shooting. DHS settled down and began to step up the physicality on defense which the Kearney players found difficult to deal with. The first quarter ended with DHS leading 17-11.
Kearsney fought and by half-time had managed to cut into the lead by five points to 25-30.
Once the third quarter began, the hosts allowed DHS to pull away and they were leading 43-31, leaving a mountain to climb in the fourth quarter.
Kearsney played hard but as soon as they got close, they made careless turnovers and allowed DHS to further pull away. DHS ran out comfortable winners, ending on 62-46.
