Dixon Wessels Softball Inter. The journey to the Dixon Wessels Softball Inter Regional Tournament in Limpopo Province began 10 weeks ago with regular Sunday practices. KZN sent nine teams and came home with six medals: four bronze, one silver, and one gold, with several players selected for All-Star teams.
The inexperienced U15 team faced tough competition against players who had been training year-round since age 8. After a shaky start, they grew stronger, placing 3rd in the round robin phase. In the semifinal, they turned the tables on Blue Sox, winning 8-4 after initially losing to them 12-3.
In the final, the boys played flawlessly, securing a 14-0 victory and the gold medal! The Westville Boys’ High School representatives included Kyle Wood, Michael Faure-Field, Shane Fuche, Morne Kirstein, and team captain Luca Roddan.
Kyle excelled as a pitcher, showing significant improvement. Morne’s defensive skills prevented extra bases, and he contributed valuable hits. Michael, a powerful left-handed hitter, ran the bases expertly. Shane performed well at second base and in the outfield, gaining valuable experience for next year. Captain Luca led with strong batting and fulfilled his role with distinction.
All the Westville boys conducted themselves admirably during the tour, making their parents and school proud. Their successful tour created lasting memories!
