The Grey High School 1st Team golfers delivered a masterclass in consistency, composure, and competitive spirit at the prestigious 25th Cape Schools Golf Tournament. The tournament was held from 29 June to 1 July in the scenic George and Mossel Bay region.

Over three days of intense competition at some of South Africa’s finest golf courses—including Mossel Bay Golf Club, Oubaai Golf Estate, and the world-renowned Fancourt—the Grey team emerged as the undisputed champions, collecting an astonishing 33 out of a possible 36 points.

Day 1: Foursomes Firepower at Mossel Bay GC

The tournament teed off with a 36-hole Foursomes format at Mossel Bay Golf Club. Grey High came out swinging, defeating Paarl Vallei 2½ – ½ and sweeping Rondebosch Boys 3 – 0 in the morning session. The momentum continued into the afternoon as they edged out SACS 2 – 1 and blanked Wynberg Boys 3 – 0.

Day 2: Singles Supremacy at Oubaai

The second day saw the format shift to singles matches at the stunning Oubaai Golf Estate. Grey High’s dominance only grew stronger. They whitewashed SACS 6 – 0, securing an overall 8 – 1 victory. They followed up with a commanding 5 – 1 win over Wynberg Boys, again finishing with an 8 – 1 overall scoreline.

Day 3: A Grand Finale at Fancourt

The final day was a fitting climax at the iconic Fancourt estate. Grey High faced Rondebosch and Paarl Vallei in their last singles matches—and they saved their best for last. The team routed Rondebosch 6 – 0 for a flawless 9 – 0 overall win, then capped off the tournament with a 5½ – ½ triumph over Paarl Vallei, sealing another 8 – 1 victory.

A Tournament to Remember

With 36 points up for grabs across four matchups, Grey High School’s 1st Team secured a staggering 33 points—one of the most dominant performances in the tournament’s 25-year history. Their blend of skill, teamwork, and mental toughness was on full display, making this a week to remember for the players, coaches, and supporters alike.
